Online Therapy Could Transform Mental Healthcare. But Will It?

“Do we want to make a ton of money off therapy? Like what good does that do us?” Gallic explains. “It’s better if we’re actually trying to help people.”

Rethink My Therapy operates not unlike any other teletherapy platform. After a short intake where clients are asked to fill out a small questionnaire, they’re sent through a list of matched accredited therapists and social workers who are available almost instantly.

Drexel grad just launched a low-cost online therapy tool

New online service aims to make mental health care more accessible and affordable.

As mental health awareness increases, more and more individuals seek treatment. For folks who don’t have insurance, fear the stigma, or have limited time, online therapy can be a wonderful alternative to the standard, a face-to-face form of mental health care.

While there are many options for online therapy, a new (and cheaper!) option was just launched — and it has some ties to Philadelphia.

FREQUENTY ASKED QUESTIONS

What is the difference between therapists and psychiatrists?

Therapists provide guidance and support talk therapy. They do not prescribe medications. Psychiatrists are medical doctors who primarily prescribe medication for the treatment of behavioral health conditions.

How do I know what type of help I need?

Our platform includes screenings to help you identify challenges you may be experiencing. These screenings can help you decide what to do and which type of professional to see. Once you complete the screening, you will see your results and recommendations.

Can I see someone if I'm in crisis or experience an emergency?
Online therapy is not meant for emergencies or crisis situations. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911 or go to your nearest emergency room.
For crises, you may also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline at 1-800-273-8255.
The call is free and help is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week.
How quickly can I get an appointment?
The average wait time for in-office visits is 35 days. Our services can be scheduled, on average, in seven days or less.
Can I use this service through only text?

At this time we unfortunately only facilitate sessions through phone or video. We are working to bring text therapy out soon.

Can our Providers write ESA Letters?

This is entirely dependent on the provider and your situation.

How many sessions can I book per month?

We don’t have a limit on how many sessions you can book per month because sessions are based on provider availability. Our clients typically can expect 2 – 5 sessions per month depending on their need.

How long do sessions last?

Sessions can be anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour depending on your providers and your availability.

Can I speak with the same provider each time I have a visit?
Absolutely, and we encourage you to find a therapist that you feel comfortable with so you can build the trust you need to work through your difficulties.
However, if at any time you feel you need to choose another therapist, you can. Because we often have multiple providers available in each state, you are welcome to explore and find the right provider for you.
Why should I choose online therapy?

Online therapy provides a way to access services when it’s not easy to find a therapist near you or when you just can’t fit therapy into your busy schedule.

Online visits allow you to see licensed providers from the comfort of your own home.

I currently have a prescription for medication. Can Rethink refill that?

An initial visit with a psychiatrist is necessary to determine how to best address your needs.

When can I talk to a provider?

Many providers have availability for appointments not only during daytime hours, but evenings and weekends too.

Once you choose a therapist, you can set an appointment with them directly at a time convenient for you.

Do you take Medicaid or Medicare?

At the moment we do not take these as payment methods. We are hoping to change that in the near future.

Do you take insurance?

At the moment we do not take insurance as payment methods. We believe that insurance gets in the middle of providing real care. That’s what why we made our prices as affordable as possible.
